The Department of Road Transport (TOM) announced Thursday that 97 new grants for electric vehicles and 18 for electric motorcycles will be available starting Monday, June 30. The grants are part of a reallocation of €1.165 million from Cyprus’s third Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme, funded by the EU Recovery and Resilience Plan.
The grants cover seven vehicle categories, including plug-in hybrids and zero-emission models. Some grants require applicants to scrap, permanently retire and dismantle, their old petrol or diesel saloon cars to qualify for support when purchasing new low-emission or electric vehicles. Eligible vehicles must be registered by Dec. 31, 2025.
Grant amounts range from €1,500 for electric motorcycles to up to €20,000 for zero-emission vehicles for persons with disabilities and large families.
Applications open Monday via TOM’s online portal. Buyers who ordered vehicles after April 23, 2025, can also apply if their new vehicle is registered by the deadline.
After these grants are exhausted, a new state-funded scheme will launch with €2.5 million to provide 260 additional grants. This upcoming program will support new plug-in hybrids, zero-emission new and used vehicles for general users, persons with disabilities, and large families. Vehicles in the new scheme must be registered by Oct. 31, 2025. Full details will be announced once the current grant cycle ends.
